On the Shoreline

Join Jax Dragonfly Academy to learn about the creatures that call the shore home.

Activities include:

  • Learning about how shells are formed and how to ID them

  • Dissecting a crustacean

  • Beach and sea scavenger hunt

Students will learn about the wide variety of plants and animals that call the shore home. We will incorporate some chemistry and water testing to explain the shells of sea creatures, then try to match up shells to their animal. Students will participate in a guided crustacean dissection. The exact dissection will change based on availability. Finally, they will safely attempt to catch critters in the surf and attempt to identify them.

This program is appropriate for kids Ages 5-17. Each ticket purchased is for a program participant. The length is approximately 2 hours, but you may stay after the program to explore the park.

You MUST wear closed toed shoes for this program at Alimacani Park.
