What to Expect
This class will run about 3 hours, with a break halfway through. Students will learn how to use a compass, how to read a map, survival skills such as fire lighting and whittling, and more. All activities will be supervised by an experienced guide. Feel free to dress like a pirate!
Who Is This For?
This program is appropriate for school age children through high school. This class has a focus on experiental learning, so kids are encouraged to ask questions about things they find along the way. It will be fun and hands on for the younger kids, while still being interesting for older kids. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Non-participating children and younger siblings are welcome to tag along to watch.
What to Bring
Bugspray, Water bottle, closed toed shoes
**During the whittling portion, we ask that students use the provided knives/peelers rather than their own personal knives. This helps ensure that the instructor can more easily observe form, and can help to prevent any unexpected knife malfunctions.Â
