Wildcraft Birthday Party

In video games like Minecraft, players have to survive in a hostile environment; build their own house, hunt for their food, search for resources and fend off wandering monsters. Sure, your child can survive in the ‘wilderness’ on the computer screen, but can they do it out in the woods?

Time & Location

Nov 03, 2021, 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park, 7000 Roosevelt Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32244, USA

About the event

Just like in their favourite video games, kids will be set a number of challenges throughout the day, and all the while be building their dens before ‘night’ falls and the monsters wake up! Players will roast marshmellows on the campfires, ‘mine’ for resources and use sharp axes; all activities are closely supervised by experienced Forest School leaders. There’ll be plenty of time to get creative with play and imagination, of course. Wildcraft is a video game inspired activity ideal for kids aged 6-12 years.

Location:

Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park

7000 Roosevelt Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32244, USA

Follow the road about 1 mile in. We will meet at the picnic area on the right at the very end of the road. When you reach the loop, park, and walk in on the right.

Who is this for?

The game has been aimed at players aged 6-12 years. But younger or older children are welcome to play.  Adults will organise the game and make sure the rules are being followed.  Children play in teams of 4 or 5 and work together to score as many points as possible, though the emphasis is not on winning the game but on scoring points through effort, participation and being creative.

What to expect

Please be aware that Wildcraft days include several bushcraft activities including; splitting wood with a small axe, fire-lighting, den building, and toasting marshmallows. Our staff are trained and experienced at tutoring children through such skills and will cater each activity to suit the child’s age and experience as appropriate. Your child’s safety is our primary concern.

What to bring

  • Bug Spray
  • Closed Toed shoes
  • Reusable Water Bottle

We will also provide snacks throughout the game such as marshmallows and sausages to toast on the fire. Players will also be able to trade magic items for cookies and oranges.

Parent and Teenage Volunteers?

Any additional adults take on the role of Tribe Elders. Tell the kids that the Elders are the keepers of the  knowledge to surviving in the Biome and are ready to help the clans where they need it.
